As a researcher and someone with a background in education, I have always been curious about how the brain works. But it was not until I completed NLP training that I truly understood the power of the mind to change thoughts, feelings and even long held beliefs. I can now say without a doubt that learning NLP made all the difference in my life. It not only helped me as a parent and person, but it opened a door for me to help others, especially kids with anxiety in Sydney.
What NLP Did for Me
Before I found NLP, I had no idea that I was carrying around a long list of beliefs that were quietly shaping everything I did. Things like I have to do it all. I cannot slow down. I am not good enough. I thought these thoughts were just part of life. But during NLP training, I learned something different.
I learned that many of our beliefs are formed when we are young, and they often go unquestioned for years. I learned that emotions like fear, shame or frustration are not fixed. And I learned that we can release these patterns by working with the brain in a simple and direct way.
Once I began to use NLP tools, I felt more calm, more focused and more in control. I also found that I was reacting differently to stress. I had better patience with my children. I became a better listener. And something else changed too, my voice. Not the sound of it, but the way I communicated.
Four Types of English No One Talks About
One of the most fascinating things I learnt through NLP is that there are four main ways people speak and process the world around them. These are called visual, auditory, kinesthetic and auditory digital.
Visual people speak in pictures. They say things like I see what you mean.
Auditory people use sound based words. They might say That rings a bell.
Kinesthetic people speak in feelings. They say I feel that deeply.
Auditory digital people focus on logic and facts. They say That makes sense.
Once I understood this, I began to notice it everywhere. I could finally see why some conversations with my children felt smooth and others felt off. We were speaking different styles of English. This insight changed everything. I started matching the way I spoke to the way they preferred to listen. The result? They felt more understood. They opened up more. Our bond grew stronger.
Helping Kids with Anxiety in Sydney
As a trained teacher and now a kids anxiety coach, the most meaningful part of this journey has been using NLP to help kids with anxiety in Sydney. I have worked with children who feel trapped by fear. Children who are too scared to go to school. Children who believe something is wrong with them. And every time I hear these beliefs, I remember my own. I remember how real they feel until someone shows you a way out.
With NLP, we do not have to dig up the past or go over the same story again and again. We can simply teach the brain a new way to see the world. We help the child discover what they believe and whether it is still helping them. If it is not, we gently shift it.
One boy I worked with believed he was bad at school. He had trouble keeping his anger at bay and often got in trouble. After just a few sessions using NLP tools, he began to think differently. He said, I think I am actually a winner, I just think in a different way. From that point on, his whole attitude changed.
Another child I saw had panic attacks every Sunday night before school. She had been seeing psychologists for years. We used NLP to help her reframe what school meant to her. We cleared the feeling of pressure and fear she had attached to learning. Within weeks, her Sunday nights became calm again. She started looking forward to class.
Why NLP Makes a Real Difference

Most of us were never taught how the brain works or how language shapes our thinking. But once you learn it, everything starts to make sense.

I truly believe that every parent should have access to these tools. Because when we help our children shift their inner world, their outer world begins to reflect it. That is when real change happens.
